This month’s speaker is Mike Williams!
Wondering which flies to fish—and why? It starts with understanding the hidden world of aquatic insects. Join us at Lone Tree Brewery for a basic aquatic entomology class and satisfy your curiosity about the insects hiding under water. Mike will cover freshwater entomology with a Western focus, helping anglers understand common fly-fishing insects, their life cycles, how to identify them, and how to use that knowledge when choosing flies at the bins and on the rivers.
This month’s pre-meeting fly tying demonstration will be led by Matt Sullivan.
Matt Sullivan has been passionate about fly tying since he was a young kid, turning a lifelong love of fishing into a creative craft. While he enjoys tying a wide variety of patterns, his true passion lies in building large, articulated streamers designed for targeting bull trout in the waters of Alberta.
Known for their movement, durability, and fish-catching ability, Matt's custom streamers are tied with both performance and artistry in mind. When he's not at the vise experimenting with new designs, he's filling custom orders for anglers looking for unique, high-quality flies built to chase big fish.
For Matt, fly tying is more than a hobby—it's a lifelong passion fueled by creativity, innovation, and the pursuit of the next unforgettable strike.
The fly tying demonstration will begin at 6:00PM. You’re sure to learn something by coming to the meeting early!
