CCTU MARCH CHAPTER MEETING

TUESDAY, MARCH 15, 7PM – IN-PERSON AT CRESTHILL MIDDLE SCHOOL & ZOOM SIMULCAST

PAT DORSEY, THE BLUE QUILL ANGLER, FLY FISHING COLORADO’S BEST TROUT STREAMS

Set your calendars as we are extremely luck to have legendary guide/author/Blue Quill Angler co-owner Pat Dorsey presenting his tips and techniques on his favorite Colorado trout streams.  Colorado has a wide array of angling possibilities, from technical, gin-clear tailwaters to large, untamed freestones.  The terrain varies depending on the geographic locale—many streams meander through lush valleys, some sweep through rich ranchland, and while others carve their way through majestic, boulder-filled canyons.  Fly fishers consider Colorado to be one of the premier fly-fishing hubs in the Rocky Mountain west.  There are an estimated 9000 miles of trout streams in Colorado, with unlimited angling options. Join Pat Dorsey for tour of Colorado’s best trout streams. Dorsey will address matching the hatch, fly selection, public access, and much more, enabling you to be successful on your next angling adventure in Colorado!

FYI - We’ve got some special items in this month’s in-person Raffle, including an Orvis Bugout Fishing Backpack, Orvis Slingpack, and two Orvis Battenkill Disc Reels.  Don’t forget to get in on the action at the meeting.

Pat Dorsey needs no introduction.  He has been guiding in his native Colorado for 30 years, spends 200+ days a year guiding/fishing on the water, continues to write some of the most informative and readable books in the industry, maintains his online stream report and Blog, co-owns the Blue Quill Angler in Evergreen, and is a highly sought after speaker across the country.  Pat is a Simms Ambassador, a member of the Sage Elite Pro Team, Fishpond Ambassador, Orvis Pro Team Member, Yeti Pro staff, and Scientific Anglers pro staff.   He is the Southwest Field Editor for Fly Fisherman Magazine and a prolific author including A Fly Fishing Guide to the South Platte River, Fly Fishing Tailwaters, Tying and Fishing Tailwater Flies, and Colorado Guide Flies.  Pat is an accomplished fly tier, an Umpqua fly designer, and his creations include the Mercury series, UV scud, Limeade, Cherry-Limeade, Paper Tiger, Top Secret Midge, Medallion Midge and the famed Black Beauty.  Find out about his hosted trips…he and his wife Kim host yearly trips to Alaska Sportman’s Lodge each September, Soaring Eagle Lodge in October, Nomadic Waters in Brazil in November, and Rio Manso Lodge (Patagonia) each April and December with clients.
