BEAR CREEK ELECTROFISHING CCTU & CPW – CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS
WEDNESDAY, SEPT 8, 7:45 AM LAIR O’ THE BEAR PARK
CCTU conservation projects continue to roll out in 2021! Please join us on Wednesday September 8 at 7:45am at Lair O' the Bear Park to help CPW in their annual electrofishing census of the trout population of Bear Creek. The Park is located 5 miles west up Highway 74 from the town of Morrison. We need a dozen fully Covid-19 vaccinated folks with strong wading skills to help in this strenuous and rewarding task. Bring your own food and water, and be prepared for rapidly changing mountain weather. We will likely move upstream and electrofish multiple sites. Please see below what is required of all CPW volunteers.
To sign up you must RSVP to George Franklin at georgefr@aol.com or 303.902.9827. WE MUST CAP THIS POPULAR EVENT AT 12 PARTICIPANTS, so please contact George as soon as you can firmly commit to the task.
From CPW:
· You must be in average to above average physical condition as you must be able to walk upstream in cold, swift water while dragging up to 20 pounds.
· You must have chest waders with felt boots. Spikes are okay but felt is preferred. If your waders have been in another body of water within 30 days of volunteering, please place them in a freezer overnight to eliminate any potential Aquatic Invasive Species. Hip waders are not sufficient on this volunteer project.
· Also, please plan to bring lunch, water, appropriate clothing for weather as well as a change of clothes.
