CCTU APRIL CHAPTER MEETING – VIRTUAL MEETING VIA ZOOM
TUESDAY, APRIL 20, 7PM ON ZOOM
PROGRAM 1 – MIKELE PAINTER, US FOREST SVC, SOUTH PLATTE RIVER RANGERS PROGRAM
The South Platte River Rangers was a program introduced in 2020 to help educate and alleviate some of the overuse pressures that the South Platte Watershed and Cheesman Canyon were experiencing in 2020. CCTU has been heavily involved in getting this program set up on our home waters, and we were excited to hear that it has been funded again for 2021. Mikele Painter is a Wildlife Biologist for the South Platte Ranger District on the Pike National Forest and she will be speaking about the evolution of this critical program. She grew up in Colorado, went to CSU for a Bachelor’s in Wildlife Biology, and earned a Master’s degree in Forestry at Northern Arizona University.
PROGRAM 2 - CHANGE…CHRIS BARRY, ORVIS PARK MEADOWS, WARM-WATER FLY FISHING IN SOUTH DENVER METRO AREA
Joe Shafer unfortunately had to cancel as his Denver Sheriff obligations changed his schedule and he had to work on Tuesday night. We are lucky to have Chris Barry step in with another still-water focused presentation.Chris is a former Orvis and Gander Mountain store manager, fishing manager, and endorsed guide and current Orvis Park Meadows staffer. He will be offering his best techniques, tips, and specific locations for hot local warm-water fisheries.Find out how/where/when for targeting smallmouth and largemouth bass, bluegills, carp, and more on multiple local warm water fisheries on the south side of town.Chris knows these waters better than anyone and as always, he is ridiculously generous in sharing his knowledge and locations.
