CCTU July Chapter Mtg - Greenback Cutthroat Trout Recovery by Kyle Battige

  • Lone Tree Brewing Company 8200 Park Meadows Drive Lone Tree, CO, 80124 United States (map)

Kyle Battige, CPW Senior Biologist, will speak on the Greenback Cutthroat Trout Recovery

The Greenback Cutthroat Trout is a species of cutthroat that once inhabited high alpine streams throughout the South Platte Basin. The cutthroat trout in Bear Creek are the only remaining greenback cutthroat that share the genetically pure fingerprint with specimens collected in the late 1800s from across the South Platte Basin.

Kyle Battige will talk about the steps being taken to preserve this pure strain of Greenback Cutthroat and how we may be able to help.

This month’s pre-meeting fly tying demonstration is yet to be determined. The fly tying demonstration will begin at 6:00PM. You’re sure to learn something by coming to the meeting early!

Additionally, we have a monthly raffle drawing for several prizes at the end of that night’s meeting. If you’re new to Trout Unlimited, you get a free raffle ticket, otherwise, there is a small fee for the raffle tickets that we use to fund our projects and speakers. The raffle prizes are varied from fly rods to fly boxes filed with flies and CCTU logo’d merchandise. Just another reason to attend the meeting!
