CCTU April Chapter Mtg - Ron Belak on Front Range Stillwaters

  • Lone Tree Brewing Company 8200 Park Meadows Drive Lone Tree, CO, 80124 United States (map)

Ron Belak Speaks on Front Range Stillwaters

Ron is an award-wining writer and photographer from Evergreen, Colorado. He has fished the Colorado backcountry as an adult for 40 years, fishing over 600 different high lakes and reservoirs. Educated as a scientist with degrees in geology and coursework in the biological sciences, he approaches fly fishing from an analytical perspective, trying to decide what strategies, techniques, equipment and patterns work and what is the scientific basis for why they work.

Ron will be speaking about Front Range Stillwaters, a subject on which he has years of experience. This presentation explores high lakes and drive-up reservoirs from the southern boundary of Rocky Mountain National Park to the Highway 285 corridor. There’s sure to be a lot of useful information for all of us bound to the Front Range!

You can read even more about Ron at his website.

This month’s pre-meeting fly tying demonstration will be the CCTU Chapter’s own webmaster, Mike Myers (no, not that one). He’ll be tying a still water pattern or two to tie-in with the presentation. The fly tying demonstration will begin at 6:00PM. You’re sure to learn something by coming to the meeting early!

Additionally, we have a monthly raffle drawing for several prizes at the end of that night’s meeting. If you’re new to Trout Unlimited, you get a free raffle ticket, otherwise, there is a small fee for the raffle tickets that we use to fund our projects and speakers. The raffle prizes are varied from fly rods to fly boxes filed with flies and CCTU logo’d merchandise. Just another reason to attend the meeting!
